Exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to your appointment, using an oil free scrub with a glove or cloth.
Shower and shave at least 4 hours, but preferably 24 hours, before your appointment. Shaving leaves pores open and will cause the spray tan solution not to stick to your skin properly. Do not use moisturizing soaps or body washes, such as Dove, and completely rinse off any residue.
Come to your appointment with clean, bare skin. Do not apply moisturizers, oils, serums, perfumes or makeup before your spray tan. Remove deodorant as best as possible.
Clients can wear whatever they are comfortable with during their spray tan. This can include swimsuits, underwear, or nude. If wearing a swimsuit or underwear, make sure it's a dark color.
If spray tanning for an event, book your appointment two days in advance. Your skin needs time to fully develop the tan. Example - if your event is on a Saturday, schedule for Thursday night.
Following your spray tan wear loose, dark clothing. If you plan to sleep while the tan develops, avoid light colored sheets or blankets as the top layer of bronzer can transfer to fabric.
For at least 4 hours after your spray tan you'll want to avoid showering, working out, using moisturizers and applying liquid makeup. Your skin needs adequate time to soak in the solution.
For a regular solution spray tan, you can shower after 8-12 hours. For a rapid solution spray tan, you can shower after just 2-6 hours. The first shower post spray tan should be an all over rinse with warm water, patting yourself dry. Avoid hair washing for at least 12 hours after initial rinse.
Moisturize at least twice a day with an oil-free, Paraben-free and fragrance-free moisturizer. Lubriderm and Hempz lotion are both recommended for spray tans. Again, MOISTURIZE!
Hair removal products such as Nair, anti-acne products or makeup removers, Dove body washes and bar soaps, facial masks and scrubs. Avoid the use of hot tubs, pools and steam rooms.
